Blog – 21 Lessons learnt from Loss

Appreciate what you See, Hear, Feel and Have

Day 8 of 21

08 May 2022

I thought my mum would be here forever. I did not imagine that a day would come that I would be on Earth without her. Yet, here I am, seven years on. I thought I had more time. But time doesn’t wait for anyone. She left so quickly and unexpectedly that I never had the chance to think about a time without her.

One of the biggest lessons learnt is never to take anyone for granted and appreciate all that you have.

I came across this beautiful poem, written by a lady who also expirenced the loss of her mum. Her words resonate with me as they may do for other. Thank you Terrina Weatherspoon❤️🙏

My Mum, by Terrina Weatherspoon

“I took for granted your smile,

Thinking I’d always See it.

I didn’t cherish your laugh,

Thinking I’d always Hear it.

I didn’t hold dear your hug,

Thinking I’d always Feel it.

I didn’t hold safe your spirit,

Thinking I’d always Have it.

So I smile to remind myself of your smile.

And I laugh to remind myself about your laugh.

And I hug to remind myself of your hug.

And I keep my spirit to remind myself of your spirit.

And others then See it, Hear it, Feel it and Have it.

And you live” ❤️🙏
