Melody of Life

Day 15 of 21

15 May 2022

“The day you died, the musical score of my life was forever changed.

A sad undertone was added. Some days it is very loud.

Some days it is very soft. But it is always there.

I am thankful for the days when I can hear the joyful melody of life.

I will listen to your song forever in my hear” By Mardi Slagle Pastor

This beautiful piece touched my heart. It was written by someone who has lost their loved one. As you read it, you can feel the deep emotions of sadness at the start and towards the end, emotions of gratitude and acceptance. You can feel this person’s grief.

Grief is like this. For me, there are days when I just can’t believe and come to terms with what happened. Even after seven years, I feel like I have been in a nightmare. The fact that I would never see, hear and feel my mum again itself is heart-breaking. Then there are days of gratitude for having had the best mum and most precious memories. But my selfish human self wished that I never lost her in the first place.

As we continue life without our mum, I know that she lives on in me and sisters and through us, her song of life continues.
